What This Workflow Does
A product added online has to exist on the shop floor before anyone can sell it there, and the person who adds it in Shopify is rarely the person who keys it into the point of sale. The gap costs a duplicate SKU or a product the registers do not recognise. The deeper cost is that the two records never learn each other's identity, so every later sync has to guess. This template creates the item and records the link.

Create the item and write the ID back to Shopify
For a genuinely new product, appse ai creates the item in Lightspeed XRetail, then takes the item ID Lightspeed returns and writes it into the Shopify product's metafields. That stored ID is what lets later inventory and order workflows match the two records directly instead of guessing from SKU or title.
Update the item when it already exists
When the gate finds the product already in Lightspeed XRetail, appse ai skips creation and updates the existing item with the current Shopify details. The point-of-sale record is refreshed rather than duplicated, and the existing link is left intact.
