What This Workflow Does
When a gift card is redeemed in store, Shopify still shows the old balance, so the same value can be spent online. This template picks up each completed Lightspeed Retail X sale paid with a gift card, finds the matching Shopify card, checks both balances and deducts the redeemed amount once.

Inside the flow
How the template works
The flow starts on each new Lightspeed Retail X sale that used a gift card and matches it to the Shopify card through an existing cross-reference. It deducts the redeemed amount in Shopify only when the balances reconcile, retries failed updates twice and holds anything else for manual review.
Match the card and skip repeats
The existing cross-reference finds the matching Shopify gift card. Sales already processed are skipped, and unmatched cards are held for review.
Reconcile the balances
The current Shopify balance is read and compared with the Lightspeed balance. Balance drift, negative results and close online and in-store redemptions are flagged.
Apply the deduction
When balances agree and funds are sufficient, the redeemed amount is deducted in Shopify. Mismatches and low balances are held instead.
Verify the update
Shopify is read again to confirm its remaining balance matches Lightspeed. Failed updates are retried twice, then queued for manual reconciliation.
Alert store operations
Held and failed transactions trigger an alert with the card reference, sale reference, outlet and both balances.
