Customers pay and then email a remittance advice, usually as a PDF or a spreadsheet, often covering a dozen invoices at once. Someone in finance opens each attachment, reads which invoice each line refers to, finds it in the ERP, and applies the payment. It is the least skilled and most error-prone work in accounts receivable, and it is what stands between cash arriving and cash being visible. This template reads the attachment and does the matching.
