About Kyocera International Inc.
Kyocera International Inc. is a company from the APPSeCONNECT customer base. appse ai is APPSeCONNECT’s own product, built with significantly more advanced automation and AI capabilities. This case study has been adapted to reflect how Kyocera’s use case would run on appse ai today.
Kyocera International Inc. is a leading manufacturer of high-quality ceramic cutlery, kitchen tools, and cookware, with a strong and growing presence in e-commerce - particularly through Amazon Seller Central. The company runs its backend operations on SAP ECC and needed both systems working as one to support its expansion into Amazon FBA.
The operational challenge
As Kyocera expanded into Amazon Seller Central, three critical backend processes - payment reconciliation, inventory tracking, and consignment management - were either unsupported by Amazon’s default APIs or handled manually. Amazon’s Finance API didn’t provide the data needed for accurate payment matching against SAP. Inventory summaries from Amazon lacked the detail required for real reconciliation across consignment stock. And consignment item movements - received, damaged, in-transit - were tracked by hand, creating frequent discrepancies that compounded across both systems. Every gap meant manual work, delayed decisions, and financial blind spots that would only get worse at scale.
The problem
As Kyocera expanded into Amazon FBA, the gap between Amazon Seller Central and SAP ECC created financial and operational blind spots that manual effort could not close:
- 01
Payment reconciliation gaps
Amazon’s default Finance API did not provide the data needed to generate accurate payment reconciliation reports. Kyocera could not reliably match expected payments against actual payments from Amazon — including fees and charges — leaving financial visibility incomplete and manual reconciliation error-prone.
- 02
Inventory discrepancies across consignment stock
Amazon’s InventorySummaries API lacked sufficient detail for accurate inventory reconciliation. Kyocera had gaps in visibility over consignment stock levels, with no reliable way to detect discrepancies between what Amazon reported and what SAP showed — leading to stock-outs, overselling risk, and inaccurate reporting.
- 03
Manual consignment tracking
Consignment item movements — received, damaged, lost, or in-transit — were tracked manually between Kyocera’s warehouse and Amazon. This created frequent discrepancies, slowed issue resolution, and added complexity to every reconciliation cycle.
This is the exact pattern appse ai exists to remove: two systems connected in name but disconnected in practice, with humans filling the gaps that APIs left open.
Why appse ai
Kyocera needed an integration layer that could close the data gaps Amazon’s default APIs left open — generating accurate payment reconciliation against SAP ECC, syncing inventory in real time with consignment-level detail, and automating the tracking of consignment item movements — all without custom middleware or a dedicated integration team.
appse ai delivered purpose-built connectors between Amazon Seller Central and SAP ECC that went beyond standard API coverage — generating custom financial reconciliation reports, syncing inventory with consignment-level accuracy, and automating item-movement tracking end to end, with a phased rollout tailored to Kyocera’s environment.
The solution — always-on workflows across payment, inventory & consignment
Instead of manual reconciliation across two disconnected systems with incomplete API data, appse ai deployed always-on workflows that bridge Amazon Seller Central and SAP ECC with the precision both systems lack alone:
- Automated Payment Reconciliation (Amazon → SAP ECC)
Amazon’s financial data — including fees, charges, and settlement details — is synced to SAP ECC and used to generate custom reconciliation reports that match expected payments against actual payments. What previously required manual financial matching now runs automatically with full visibility into every line item.
- Real-Time Inventory Sync with Consignment Accuracy (Amazon ↔ SAP ECC)
Inventory updates from Amazon are automatically synced to SAP ECC in real time, with consignment-level detail that Amazon’s default InventorySummaries API doesn’t provide. Stock discrepancies are eliminated, and both systems reflect the same truth at all times.
- Automated Consignment Item Tracking (Kyocera Warehouse → Amazon)
Consignment item movements — received, damaged, lost, in-transit — are tracked automatically between Kyocera’s warehouse and Amazon, replacing manual logs with real-time status visibility and faster issue resolution.
The rollout was phased — starting with consignment issues and returns to get the most error-prone processes right first, then progressing through development, quality validation with live data, and Go-Live over approximately 7–8 months. Each workflow runs as a closed loop: detect the event in one system, resolve it against the other, execute the update, and only surface an exception to a human when judgment is genuinely required.
The results
With always-on workflows bridging SAP ECC and Amazon Seller Central, Kyocera launched on Amazon FBA with full financial and inventory visibility from day one:
- Successful entry into the Amazon FBA market with full financial and inventory visibility from day one.
- Automated payment reconciliation aligning expected vs. actual Amazon payments, including fees and charges.
- Real-time inventory sync eliminated stock discrepancies between Amazon and SAP ECC.
- Consignment item tracking automated end to end — received, damaged, lost, and in-transit statuses resolved without manual logs.
- Enhanced financial reporting reduced manual work and accelerated decision-making.
- Scalable foundation for expansion into new global e-commerce markets without adding reconciliation headcount.
